Success from Macintyre High School students in cross country

The Tamworth Ten and Fun Five cross country races were held in Tamworth recently. Two Macintyre High School students Hugh Williams of Year 11 and Stacey Walls Year 9 participated in this event.

Hugh competed in the Tamworth Ten against 126 men and women of all ages. He won in a time of 33 minutes 23 seconds, which is a course record. The event has been running for over 30 years.

Stacey competed in the fun Five against 161 competitors of all ages. She won her age group in a time of 23 minutes and 34 seconds which was fast enough to give her overall third place in the female division of the race, consisting of 81 competitors. Hugh then travelled to Sydney to compete in the City to Surf last weekend and placed 42nd out of 70 000 competitors. Congratulations to both runners.
